Release through the Breath.

Springtime is truly a great time to cleanse and release. Pranayama techniques that support lung purification are ideal to provide the clearing and movement of phlegm, mucous, and stagnation that may have accumulated during the winter.

Giving way to stronger lung health and vitality at a time when allergens increase in the air, and our activity levels lengthen with the longer days. Bhastrika is a method of using equally forceful inhales and exhales to move the breath through the lungs not only top to bottom but also side to side, and front to back. Feeling a full expansion of the ribcage.

Compared to Kapalabhati which is a forceful exhale with a pumping action of the abdominals, this pranayama focuses on movement through the lungs and ribcage. Allowing the forceful exhale to create higher levels of carbon dioxide release. Another supportive tool in cleansing our bodies and subtle systems.

Enjoy Bhastrika in the morning or afternoon for its most optimal affect.
